The national award winning Actor - Director combo of Dhanush and Vetrimaran last delivered the critically acclaimed and commercially successful raw and rustic gangster flick Vada Chennai, the first part of a trilogy, and before starting the second installment of the movie, have joined for a quickie.

This quickie, titled Asuran has been said to be the film adaptation of the popular novel Vekkai written by Poomani. Bankrolled by top producer Kalaipuli S Thanu in his V Creations, the movie which will have music by GV Prakash, will begin shooting from January 26, as announced by Dhanush yesterday.

It has now been revealed that the hard hitting Asuran will have top Malayalam actress Manju Warrier playing the female lead, making her Tamil debut. The five time Filmfare award winner Manju Warrier had made a comeback to films post a sabbatical with How Old are you, and has since then been starring alongside top heroes in Malayalam like Mohanlal, and was last seen in Odiyan.
