Director Vetrimaran and actor Dhanush had teamed last year for the movie Vada Chennai, their third movie after Pollathavan and Aadukalam. Vada Chennai was announced as the first of a trilogy and released to receive great reviews and emerged a commercial success as well.

Ever since the release of the movie, that also starred Ameer, Andrea Jeremiah, Aishwarya Rajesh, Samuthirakani, Pawan, Daniel Balaji and Kishore, there had been questions from the fans on when the sequel to Vada Chennai will release. The team had already shot many scenes for the second part as well.

Now here's a shocking update on the Vada Chennai sequel. Reportedly, as the first part had faced negative response and protests from people of North Chennai citing that the movie projected them in bad light, and since the team could not shoot in the same locations due to this, they have decided to drop the sequel plan. However a web series named Rajan Vagaiyara based on Ameer's character Rajan might be announced soon, say sources. An official announcement is expected soon on these speculations.
