Actor Dhanush, who is a well established star in Tamil as well as Hindi film industries is currently awaiting the release of his next film 'Atrangi Re'. During a promotional interview for the film, Dhanush shared his views on the vast divide between the Bollywood and Southern film industries. "I was always against (the divide between) south and north Indian films. It is an Indian film and that is how it should always be," he told PTI.
A lot of southern movies get remade into Bollywood within a year or two of their release and that would not be the case if the two industries were more integrated. Being hopeful for the future, Dhanush said, "We are heading towards that (change) at a very rapid pace. It is very healthy. It is helping all of us with our films, actors, and creative people globally."
Further in the interview, Dhanush talked about how the South Indian industries have developed over the years. He said, "Initially it was a phenomenon called Rajinikanth, the phenomenon became national, and then international. He has a major fan following in Japan, Canada, the US and everywhere. And after that it is 'Baahubali'. They (Rajinikanth and the 'Baahubali' team) all set the trend."
'Atrangi Re' also stars Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan and it is going to release on 24th of December.
