Director Mari Selvaraj who had made his debut in 2018 with Pariyerum Perumal is next directing Dhanush's 41st movie which has been titled Karnan and produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu's V Creations.

Karnan is based on Maanjolai tea estate massacre and also stars Malayalam actress Rajisha Vijayan who makes her Tamil debut, Lal, Yogi Babu, Natty, Lakshmipriyaa Chandramouli, Gouri G Kishan and has music by Santhosh Narayanan.

Actor Lal who plays a character named Yemen revealed that the shooting will be wrapped in March, as he tweeted "Great work to director @mari_selvaraj ?? has managed to push boundaries with each outing with @dhanushkraja sir and with #Karnan he aims high and manages to deliver in the most satisfying way. Also, great work by with good screen presence.#Karnan shoot finish in march ??". After this movie, Dhanush will start shooting for his Hindi flick Atrangi Re.
