Actor Vijay's mother Shoba Chandrasekar is a good singer, well trained in Carnatic music. She has rendered her voice for a number of super hit songs in Tami films and also performs in music concerts.

Every year during the December Carnatic Music season she uses to perform in the Chennayil Thiruvaiyaaru music festival.

Likewise this year Shoba's concert happened on Sunday (December 25, 2016).

To everyone's surprise, actor Dhanush took part in the event held ar Kamarajar Arangam, Chennai and also honoured the veteran singer.

Dhanush shares a close friendship with Vijay. In a recent interview, Shoba confessed that herself and the other family members of Vijay are 'Dhanush fans'. She also persuaded her husbabd, director-actor SAC to act in Dhanush's recent super hit flick 'Kodi'.
