The anti-Sterlite protests in Tuticorin turned into violence with police opening fire on the people claiming the lives of 13 civilians. Stars from Rajini to Kamal Haasan in the film space have expressed their angst for the inhuman behaviour of the police.

The sad update is, one of Dhanush’s hardcore fans were also in the protests who had lost his life fighting for the cause. Dhanush took to his social page to express his condolences for the same.

“The death of my fan S Raghu Kaaliappan during the Sterlite protests police shooting has devastated me. My deep condolences to his family members. I will meet with my brother(fan)’s family after coming to India. I pray with sorrowful heart that his soul rest in peace,” Dhanush stated.

On the career front, Dhanush received an extraordinary response for his film ‘The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir’ at the Cannes Film Festival. We also have his ‘Vada Chennai’ and ‘Maari 2’ to look forward to.
