Actor-director Dhanush has donated ₹25 lakhs to the Kerala CM Relief Fund in order to demonstrate his solidarity for the people affected by the tragic landslide that occurred in Wayanad, Kerala. Striking on July 30, the landslide killed many lives and wreaked havoc over a large area. Many actors in the Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu film sectors have responded by volunteering.
Apart from Dhanush, other well-known stars including Vijay, Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan, Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Rashmika Mandanna, Mammootty, and Mohanlal have also made major contributions. Mohanlal even made trips to Wayanad to help with relief.
The Wayanad villages of Mundakki, Chooralmala, and Vellarimala were affected by landslides set off by unrelenting rain. The army, police, fire agencies, and volunteers working nonstop to help those impacted have responded incredibly. Medical personnel have been assigned, and in record 71 hours the Indian Army built a 190-foot bridge to enable vital mobility. Using their platforms, celebrities have been expressing loss and calling for help for Wayanad.
Professionally, Dhanush just starred in 'Raayan', a movie he both directed and performed in. Though opinions were divided, the movie was his second as a director and his 50th acting performance. Along with Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh, he is scheduled to act in Sekhar Kammula's 'Kubera', soon directing 'Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam', a project on hold.
