Actor Dhanush came up with his 50th film, Raayan, directed by himself. Produced by Sun Pictures, this highly anticipated actioner was released on a grand scale in over 2000 theatres worldwide. As per the reports, 'Raayan' has opened its account at the box office with huge numbers due to the positive response.
Sources reveal that Raayan is now the highest opening grosser for an A-rated film in Tamil, dethroning Ajith Kumar's Billa 2. Additionally, it is said that 'Raayan' is the new highest opening grosser in Dhanush's filmography surpassing his previous best Karnan. In Tamil Nadu, Raayan is the second highest opening day grosser in Tamil cinema after Indian 2.
Reportedly, Raayan has raked in over 12 crores in Tamil Nadu on Day 1. The All-India collection of this film on Day 1 is said to be around 16 crores while the worldwide opening day gross is estimated to be around 22 crores.
