Dhandupalya Review

When the real life happenings are transformed on silver screen the biggest task is the look after for its impact. When legends life sketch is made it is pro society. When demons of the society are brought on silver screen the care is needed very much.

In that way director Srinivasaraju has used his common sense (except saying that it is an entertainment cinema) in focusing on the dreaded killers and robbers of 'Dhandupalya' gang. The real life activities of the gang are something inhuman, barbaric, indecent, weird, and loathsome.

Director Srinivasaraju has brought only one part of the activities and aftermath he has planned for Part II as he shows at the end of the film.

The fear psychosis created by the nine gag members headed by Lakshmi is suggestively narrated in this film. The crude parts are reduced and cinematic techniques are used by director in narrating it. In the outcome of this film it alerts the society. The toughest part for the police as the gang members in real life too. After 40 murders, several robberies from the gang the police get a clue.

The cinematic presentation of the gory, mayhem and kitsch at places create a fear. Yet the seniors in the society could watch this film 'Dhandupalya' that is well enacted, stored in the camera and quickly narrated.

The operation style of gang of killers is very unique. They all look like construction workers. In looks they are rude and rugged. The leader of the gang is Lakshmi (Pooja Gandhi) with Krishna (Makrand Deshpande), Hanuma (Ravi Kaale), Dod muniya (Kari Subbu), Chik Muniya (Danny) Munikrishna (Muni), Venkatesha (Petrol Prasanna), Kothi Rama (Jai Dev), Venkatrama (Yethiraj). They have unique habits. No humanity. Behave like Rakshas. A series of murders starting from killing an inspector in 'Chitthur' become solid head ache for police.

How they are trapped, punished and sentenced according to section 302 of IPC is the rest of the film. All the nine agree how they conducted the crime to the police. The law support finally falls down when a witness who is a victim of losing two children come up to the court.

The 'Male' Hudgi now grown up as a senior actress in the last six years in Kannada cinema industry Pooja Gandhi has given her best. The roles of Makrand Deshpande, Yethiraj, Jai Dev, Muni, Kari Subbu have come out well. It is very difficult match the real life characters.

Ravishanker as a cop wins from his dialogue delivery. Sudharani, Bhavya, Nisha Kothari are admirable. Raghu Mukerjee has nothing much to boast.

Venkat Prasad is the relief provider from his camera and Arjun Janya is the effect provider from his background score. Arjun has not given any appreciable tunes for this film.

At least to keep society how to save themselves from wrong doers, this film is helpful.
