As far as Tamil movies are concerned, the trade is not just limited to the state, but extends beyond borders as well, with wide release in foreign countries. Malaysia has been one of the biggest markets for Tamil movies, and of late, several Tamil movies are facing issues in releasing in the nation.
The Oviya starrer 90 ML, one of the most controversial movies of recent times, which was directed by Anita Udeep and costarred Masoom Shankar, Bommu Lakshmi, Monisha Ram and Shreegopika, was banned in Malaysia after issues with censor. The movie has not found release yet in the nation.
The recent VIjay Sethupathi starrer Super Deluxe directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja has also been denied a release in Malaysia, and the same problem has been met by Dhadha 87 as well. Directed by debutant Vijay Sri G and starring veteran Chaaru Haasan, the movie which was released last month had a unique theme and also had actress Sri Pallavi playing the role of a transgender, making it the first such instance. With this trend of banning Tamil movies in Malaysia of late, it is to be seen which movie will face ban next.
