One of the four releases this Friday 'Dha Dha 87' may seem like a crime story but the filmmaker Vijay Sri G has tackled a sensitive issue that has rarely been dealt with in Tamil cinema. Recently the critically acclaimed 'Peranbu' directed by Ram and starring Mammootty and Anjali touched on the subject and this is the second one to do so in the same year.
Transgenders like a male or a female is nature's creation and its not their fault they are what they are is what 'Dha Dha 87' conveys to the people. Going further the film advocates the need to show love and compassion to the third gender and there is nothing wrong in a male falling in love with one of them and treating their love on par with that of a girl.
'Dha Dha 87' has another surprise in store for fans as Kamal Haasan's iconic titular character from his 1988 super hit film 'Sathya' appears as a 87 year old man played by Kamal's elder brother Charu Haasan. Keerthy Suresh's grandmother Saroja plays the elderly version of Amala's character Geetha. The two lovers who separated in 'Sathya' become a couple again in this film after thirty years.
'Dha Dha 87' directed by Vijay Sri G and produced by Kalaiselvan under the banner Kalai Cinemas has Charu Haasan, Saroja, Anand Pandi, Sri Pallavi, Janagaraj, Kathir, Bala Singh, Marimuthu and the director Vijay Sri G himself play other important roles.
