This election season in Telangana, the Election Commission will draft about 15,000 wheelchairs across the state of Telangana to enable PwD (people with disabilities) voters to cast their vote during the Assembly elections on December 7. In this regard, panchayats and urban local bodies have allotted funds. "Free transport to polling booths would be provided to the disabled voters," an election authority has said.

A few popular personalities from different walks of life have been roped to act as ambassadors to promote awareness about these arrangements. 'Taxiwala' actor Vijay Devarakonda will take care of the awareness campaign in Mahabubnagar district, a report says.

Sports champions like Sania Mirza, Pullela Gopichand, and VVS Laxman have also been enlisted by the EC.
