In a major twist overnight, BJP's Devendra Fadnavis this morning took oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Just last night, Uddhav Thackeray of the Shiv Sena was confirmed by the NCP as the CM of Maha for five years.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar's nephew, Ajit Pawar, is belived to have backstabbed the party. He has pledged support to the BJP, which has given him Deputy CM's post in the new government.
Interestingly, the WhatsApp status of Supriya Sule, the senior NCP leader and daughter of Sharad Pawar, says that her party and family stand split! This is a big twist in the history of Maha politics.
Nawab Malik claimed that the NCP had "taken signatures from MLAs for attendance at a party meet, and those signatures were misused as a basis for the oath".
Sharad Pawar is not happy with what Ajit Pawar has done. Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena has described the development as a betrayal of the people of Maha by Ajit.
On its part, the BJP is confident of winning floor test. Girish Mahajan of the BJP said, "We will prove our majority with the support of over 170 MLAs. Ajit Pawar has given a letter to Governor about the support of his MLAs and as he is legislative party leader of NCP, which means all NCP MLAs have supported us."
