Koratala Siva's "Srimanthudu," featuring Mahesh Babu and Shruti Haasan, hit the screens in 2015, yet nearly a decade later, it continues to make headlines for all the wrong reasons. Writer Sarath Chandra took legal action, filing a copyright infringement case against Koratala, along with producer Naveen and actor Mahesh, alleging that the film unlawfully borrowed from his story.

The controversy revolves around Chandra's 2012 narrative, "Chachenta Prema," published in Swathi magazine monthly. Legal proceedings commenced in 2017 at Nampally Criminal Court and City Civil Court. Although the Telangana High Court dismissed the cases against Naveen and Mahesh, it maintained the charges against Koratala. Seeking resolution, the director, currently at the helm of Jr NTR's "Devara," approached the Supreme Court, which, on Tuesday, upheld the High Court's decision.

Sarath Chandra asserted that initially, the accused parties did not respond to notices until compelled to do so. He emphasized that the issue transcends monetary concerns, highlighting the importance of respecting writers. According to him, it's not just about financial compensation; it's a writer's fight against being taken for granted.

Expressing frustration, Sarath questioned the industry's response, wondering why prominent figures like Mohan Babu, Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, and Dil Raju haven't voiced support for writers. He insisted that Koratala should face consequences for his actions, both in the court of law and within the film industry.

Sarath Chandra alleged that Koratala lacks evidence and claimed to possess proof demonstrating the replication of elements, from characterizations to specific roles and even the storyline. He pointed out that Koratala failed to register his story with the writer's association, adding further weight to the plagiarism claims. Addressing the prolonged legal battle, Sarath emphasized the uncommon persistence in fighting such cases.

In a bold move, Sarath declared his intention to file another case against Mahesh and Naveen, holding them accountable for their involvement. He concluded by stating that unless Koratala acknowledges his mistake and issues a public apology, he will take measures to halt the release of the upcoming movie "Devara," starring NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan, ensuring it does not see the light of day.
