Jr NTR is poised to set the screen ablaze with his latest spectacle, 'Devara: Part 1', his first release since the global success of 'RRR', directed by SS Rajamouli. Expectations are soaring for this high-octane action drama, and the star assures that no effort has been spared in delivering a film that promises to raise the bar for cinematic action.
Directed by Koratala Siva, 'Devara: Part 1' features Jr NTR in dual roles, portraying both the titular father and his son. Joining him in their Telugu film debuts are Bollywood stars Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, adding a new dimension to the ensemble.
At the trailer launch event, Jr NTR shed light on the filmâs intense action sequences, which were meticulously crafted to meet global standards. "Itâs an action drama thatâs extremely high on action," he shared. "Saif sir will agree that we had some physically grueling sequences. Solomon, who worked on 'RRR', was heavily involved in the underwater and over-water scenes."
Jr NTR revealed that they dedicated nearly 100 days to shoot these scenesâ38 days underwater and 60 over waterâcreating what he describes as "phenomenal action sequences that have never been seen before." One of the standout moments is his shark-riding sequence, which he candidly admitted was one of the most challenging parts of the shoot. âIt took us nearly an entire day to perfect that scene,â he said, highlighting the effort that went into achieving the desired results.
Janhvi Kapoor, making her Telugu debut, expressed her excitement and nostalgia at the event. "This is my debut, but it feels like a homecoming because my mother had such deep ties with the South," she said. Janhvi shared her admiration for Jr NTR, saying, "Working with Tarak sir has been a dream come true, and Iâve learned so much from him." In previous interviews, she mentioned how the project brought her closer to her motherâs legacy, making the experience all the more special.
Saif Ali Khan, who plays the complex character of Bhaira, described *Devara* as an exciting opportunity to dive into South Indian cinema. Reflecting on his role, he shared, "Thereâs a young version, an older versionâitâs more of an anti-hero with layers, rather than a straight antagonist." Saif also discussed how Koratala Siva and Jr NTR reached out to him after watching *Omkara*, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work on such a grand project. âSouth cinema is on the cutting edge of Indian film right now, and I feel privileged to be a part of it,â he said.
Saif also spoke highly of Jr NTRâs hospitality, recalling how the actor made him feel at home on set. âHeâs one of the kindest, most down-to-earth people Iâve worked with. We had some great moments on set, and his warmth made the entire experience even better.â
The event also featured filmmaker Karan Johar, who praised the actors and reminisced about his collaboration with Jr NTR during 'Brahmastra'. He also shared his pride in Janhvi Kapoorâs performance, calling her journey in 'Devara' a proud moment for him.
'Devara: Part 1' is scheduled for release on September 27. Produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts, the film boasts a technical dream team, with cinematography by Rathnavelu ISC, music by Anirudh Ravichander, production design by Sabu Cyril, and editing by Sreekar Prasad. Director Koratala Siva promises a cinematic experience like no other, blending action and imagination to create a world that defies expectations.
In Sivaâs words, "What youâll see on screen is a blood seaâan action-filled spectacle on land and water that will captivate your wildest imagination."
