"'Republic' has acquired cult status and it would be great if is made into a franchise. The second part is going to be something related to the system or politics. We are mooting a couple of ideas. An engaging story has to be built around systemic change. The protagonist has to be either a politician, a bureaucrat, or a judicial member," the 'Vennela' maker said.
He added, "I am thinking of casting Pawan Kalyan garu as the leading man. I might approach him. Everything is possible now. I am open."
Katta didn't approach the 'Bheemla Nayak' star for the first part, as he was scared that he might not be able to handle such a mass star. "When Sai Dharam Tej listened to the story, he felt that it suits Kalyan garu more. But I was not confident enough. I must be able to satisfy his fan base. I didn't want any changes to be made and spoil the soul of the story. If the story is exciting, 'Republic 2' might happen with him," Katta said.
