Deputy Superintendent stoned to death in J&K

In a gruesome incident, Deputy Superintendent Mohammed Ayub was lynched near Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of Srinagar. The police officer was in civilian clothes when the incident happened.
This violence seems to have been triggered as he tried to click pictures or take a video of some people pelting stones at the mosque during prayer time at 12 am. The mob turned violent and allegedly attacked him, when he opened fire for self-defense, injuring three persons. The police said that the officer was stripped naked and stoned to death.
A curfew has been announced in the area and situation remains tense in the area.
