In Colorado, USA, a dentist named James Toliver Craig (45) was arrested for killing his wife by poisoning her protein shake, as he wanted to be with his girlfriend. The victim, 43-year-old Angela Craig, would often drink a protein shake after her workout, which her husband would prepare. James saw an opportunity to poison his wife and bought cyanide and arsenic online to execute his plan. Though initially he tried to poison her by mixing arsenic alone, it failed miserably and so he eventually mixed it with cyanide. Angela fell sick and was admitted to the hospital with severe headaches and fatigue, but unfortunately died within a few hours despite treatment. The doctors were unable to determine the cause of her sudden death, and the murder was eventually discovered during a police investigation.

The case was significantly aided by a statement from James's co-worker Ryan, who revealed that James had purchased cyanide and arsenic online. James claimed that it was for research purposes, but the police found evidence on his phone that he had searched on Google whether death by consuming arsenic could be detected in post-mortem. This evidence made it clear that James was responsible for the poisoning of his wife.
