Demonte Colony 2 Review
Demonte Colony 2 revolves around a group of friends who return to a cursed location, driven by curiosity and the quest to uncover the truth behind the malevolent spirits that reside there.
Story
Debbie (Priya Bhavani Shankar) tries to find out the reason behind the mysterious and sudden demise of her husband Sameul Richard (Sarjano Khalid). Her quest will result in startling developments. Who is Demonte and how it is connected to the developments and what is the significance of Srini and Raghu (Both played by Arulnithi Tamilarasu) form the rest of the twists.
Analysis
Arulnithi Tamilarasu is fine in his role. However the role didnot offer much for him to do except to roll his eyes in a peculiar manner . That was however not convincing but he is good when he behaved like a normal person. Priya Bhavani Shankar who is known for her homely roles this time got a different role. She did a good job elevating the emotions and through her shrieks she tried to scare viewers. In doing so she followed the horror films template.
Arun Pandian's performance gives a feeling that he went overboard with his expressions and emotions. Others like Antti Jaaskelainen, Tsering Dorjee, Muthukumar, Meenakshi Govindarajan, Sarjano Khalid, Archana Ravichandran performed according to their roles.
R.Ajay Gnanamuthu, starts the narration in an interesting and exciting manner. He connected the dots quite well but the Demonte Colony's backstory turned out to be cringe despite the interesting narration. The first half has good interesting and thrilling elements but the second half dips considerably with lack of scary and horror elements. The obsession to use VFX effects backfired on the narration completely as everything looked unrealistic.
The background score of Sam CS elevated the scenes giving a terrific experience. Harish Kannan did justice to the scenes with his cinematography but there has been extensive usage of VFX gives an impression that these could have been had the budget for the film been on the higher scale. The editing of Kumaresh is efficient except for few scenes here and there. Production values are good.
Verdict
Demote Colony 2 had good plot and starts off well with good thrills and twists but the intense use of VFX backfired robbing viewers of breathtaking experience. A little fine-tuning of these things would have got better output.
