Even as Democratic nominee Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris are inching towards certain victory in the ongoing United States presidential election, a heartwarming clip of Kamala Harris' reassurance to a young girl has surfaced online. It's everything a girl in a progressive society needs to know and the soon-to-be Vice President makes her point clear.
"You could be President," Kamala Harris tells her grand niece, who is sitting on her great aunt's lap and heard saying she wants to be president. "You could be president, but not right now. You have to be over the age of 35," Kamala Harris says. The video was shared by Kamala's niece Meena Harris, who wrote, "For context, my daughter wants to be both president and an astronaut." The 12-second clip drew positive response from people on social media. In response to it, a user wrote, "Literally had this conversation with my daughter tonight. She was shocked there had never been a woman elected president or Vice President before- but that changes NOW."
Born to a Jamaican father and an Indian mother, Kamala Harris identifies herself as Black. She became the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. If elected, Kamala Harris would be the first Black American, first Asian American and first woman to serve as the nation's Vice President.
