24-year-old Democrat Ashwin Ramaswami is running for the Georgia State Senate in District 48 against Republican incumbent Shawn Still. Ramaswami, an Indian American and member of Gen Z, launched his campaign a year ago centered on integrity in elections. Ramaswami ran uncontested in the Democratic primary and aims to unseat Still, a Trump ally indicted for allegedly pretending to be a fake elector to overturn the 2020 election. Ramesh's campaign is focused on saving democracy, the economy, and health care. A recent Marist College poll revealed that 25% of Georgia adults prioritized saving democracy as their reason for voting, underscoring the dominance of this issue in the campaign.

There is a demographic rise in District 48, as in the last few years it has started witnessing an influx of different and diversified groups of college-educated voters. Even the most cynical political observers will agree that Ramaswami is the heavy underdog in the race.
