Only recently did India’s Manushi Chillar brought home the Miss World title after a long hiatus of seventeen years. Now the winner of the much coveted Miss Universe title has also been announced in Las Vegas.
Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters has been crowned the Miss Universe 2017. The 22 year old Nel-Peters also has a degree in Business Management. In the competition’s Q&A segment, Nel-Peters stressed the need for equal wages by stating that women earn only 75% of of what men earn for doing the same job and it wasn’t right.
Teh first runner up to the title is Miss Colombia Laura Gonsalez and the second runner up is Miss Jamaica Davina Bennett respectively.This is the 66th edition of the beauty pageant where Indian contestant Miss Diva Shraddha Shashidhar didn't make it to the final list. The competition had 13 finalists from different countries out of which the winners were judged.
