A woman from Delhi’s Vikaspuri area allegedly threw acid on her boyfriend after he refused to marry her while riding pillion on the man’s motorcycle.

The police received a call on June 11 regarding a couple being attacked with acid. It was originally stated that both the man and the woman were attacked by a third party during the ride. The woman had minor injuries on her hands while the man had severe burns on his face, neck, and chest. The police got suspicious when the man mentioned in his statement that his girlfriend had asked him to remove his helmet midway, following which the attack happened. Even though the woman dodged the questions for several hours, she finally broke down and confessed to the crime. “They were in a relationship for over three years, but recently the boy had wanted to end it. But the girl was adamant on getting married and so hatched the plan to deface the boy,” an official involved in the case stated.

The woman was apparently carrying a bottle of the chemical in her purse. She has been arrested while the investigation of the matter is in progress.
