Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said that the capital city of India is expected to have at least 5.5 lakh Covid-19 cases by July 31. This comes just a couple of days after he said that schools shall be reopened in Delhi.
"We expect around 44,000 cases by June 15. We expect 1 lakh cases by June 30, and 2.5 lakh cases by July 15. By the end of next month, there might be 5.5 lakh cases," the popular AAP leader said.
He added that, by July 31, as many as 80,000 beds will be required.
The government has said that there is no proof of community transmission in Delhi as of now. However, there is a shocking fact. "Nearly 50% of the new cases are those in which source of infection is not known," Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain has been quoted as saying.
