The name Shahrukh has been heard on TV and social media since Monday evening. Who is he? He is the one in a red t-shirt who infamously opened fire at police during the anti-CAA violence in North East Delhi. Initially, his identity couldn't be established. Later on, with the help of CCTV footage, the man could be traced within hours.
On Tuesday afternoon, the police successfully arrested the culprit, whose gunshots had terrorized the cops.
Social media has witnessed intense duels over Shahrukh. Polarized debates have muddled the discourse on Twitter and Facebook. "Instead of demanding stringent action against the gunman, partisan sides have communalized the issue. Delhi has been burning for want of a strong administration. We should demand accountability and not fight among ourselves," a concerned citizen noted on Facebook.
Several social media users are saying that Union Home Minister Amit Shah must resign. "Four civilians and a constable have died. About 100 people have been injured. This is not normal," a citizen said.
