A 44-year-old man killed himself by jumping in front of a train at the Haiderpur Badli Mor station in Delhi on Sunday, before killing his two children at home.
The incident happened at 5.40 pm on Sunday and police have claimed that the man, identified as Madhur Malani, was depressed due to unemployment. After his sandpaper-manufacturing company was shut down six months ago due to financial issues, he stayed with his wife Rupali and their children Samiksha (14) and Shraiyans (6) at a rented house in northwest Delhi's Shalimar Bagh area. Madhur's parents had been taking care of them financially until then. His wife reportedly left home Sunday afternoon after which he strangled both his kids to death. He left home soon after and jumped in front of a metro train, to the intense shock of the spectators.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and investigation is currently underway.
