The Delhi team’s scheduled travel to Pune for their upcoming match against Punjab Kings on Wednesday has been cancelled after a player tested positive for Covid-19. The news comes days after DC’s physio Patrick Farhart contracted the virus.
An official IPL release on Friday said, “Delhi Capitals physio Patrick Farhart has been tested positive for COVID-19. He is being closely monitored by the DC Medical Team at the moment.” The Delhi players are apparently quarantined in their rooms with scheduled door-to-door Covid-19 tests for today and tomorrow. The player, whose Rapid Antigen Test result came out positive, will undergo an RT-PCR test to confirm the same. Meanwhile, an official statement from the BCCI regarding the fate of DC’s upcoming match is awaited.
Delhi Capitals played their last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede stadium on Saturday. IPL 2021 was suspended midway in May last year after several cases were reported in the teams’ bio-bubble. The rest of the matches of the tournament were postponed and were later completed in UAE in October.
