'Delhi 6': A film from the heart

May be 'Delhi 6' was a project destined to be the second film of Sonam Kapoor. This can be guessed from what director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's words. He said that even though the idea of 'Delhi 6' was in his mind even before he made 'Rang De Basanti', he could not proceed because no actress fitted into the character of 'Bitu'.
His search for Bitu took him to Sonam. After the lengthy meeting with the actress, Rakeysh began to feel that it was Bitu and not Sonam who was sitting opposite him; the character of Bittu fit Sonam like a glove.
It was 'Rang De Basanti' that proved the expertise of this director.
I was born and brought up in Delhi. I lived my childhood in those gallis of Delhi. It is my city and I have always wanted to do something for it. So I made this film for her says the director. This not only speaks of his deep affection for the capital city, but it also gives us enough reason to increase our expectations about 'Delhi-6'.
In the case of 'Delhi-6', more than anything else, what has to be achieved is the satisfaction of paying a good tribute to a beloved city.
Expectations are running high on this film because of the creative instincts blending with nostalgia. Only time can tell if 'Delhi 6' will be a straight hit at the box office.
