Recently, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh got married in Italy as per both Konkani and Sikh traditions. The Sikh-style marriage has landed in a controversy.
As per news reports, Sukhdev Singh Kang, an India Sikh community leader in Italy, has found fault with the way the Anand Karaj ceremony was held. As per the tradition, the Guru Granth Sahib (the holy book of Sikhism) should not be taken to places like hotels for the Anand Karaj ceremony.
"It's strictly prohibited to take the Guru Granth Sahib to a place other than a gurdwara," the community leader has been quoted as saying. He has penned a letter to the Akal Takht in India to look into the matter.
Meanwhile, the newly-wed couple will celebrate a wedding reception this week in Bengaluru.
