Actress Deepika Padukone, who was recently seen in the film 'Gehraiyaan' is about to produce a film based on the life of her father, Prakash Padukone. Prakash was a badminton player back in the 70s and 80s and he was ranked World No. 1 in 1980. The film will be based on his struggles and the success that followed.
Deepika talked about this project during a conversation with Cyrus Broacha. She said she's working on it and then went on to share a thing or two about her father's achievements, "Actually, even before 83 happened, he was one of the first Indian athletes to put India on the global map as far as Indian sport is concerned. He won the World Championship in 1981, which was obviously before 1983."
Deepika further shared how Prakash used to train in ill equipped facilities. She said, "He trained in a marriage hall, that was his badminton court. He used things like the beams that go across to make his shot more precise. He actually used his disadvantages to his advantage. If he had the facilities that athletes in India have today, then he’d be far more superior.”
