Deepika Padukone to play Draupadi

Bollywood star actress Deepika Padukone will play Draupadi in a film based on the epic Mahabharata. The 33-year-old actress has confirmed the news while speaking to a news agency. Saying that she is super thrilled about playing the role, the 'Padmaavat' actress added that the film tells the story of Mahabharat from Draupadi's point of view.
An expensive film, it will be bankrolled by Madhu Mantena. Slated for a grand release for Diwali 2021, the project has been in the news for long. Things have to fall in place for it to go on the floors.
Deepika's maiden venture as a producer is titled 'Chhapaak'. She is playing the role of an acid attack victim in this one. The film will be a January 2020 release.
