Back in 2019, it was announced that filmmaker Madhu Mantena is planning to make a film about Mahabharat from Draupadi's perspective. He had actress Deepika Padukone in mind for the central character which seemed like a perfect fit. However, there has been no progress on the project till now and producer Mantena recently talked about the reason behind the delay.

He told a news outlet, "We are working hard to put everything together. These projects do take time, and we all know that. These are not small responsibilities, we are looking to create a world which has not been seen before."

Madhu also has plans for a big budget Ramayan film which might star Hrithik Roshan and Mahesh Babu. Deepika Padukone is a strong contender for the role of Sita in this project. Madhu shared that Ramayan is his first priority as of now. He said, "Deepika and I are making it together, but it’s going to be Ramayana first. These things take time and we don’t want to be irresponsible in our approach."
