The trailer of Shakun Batra's romantic drama 'Gehraiyaan' was released couple days back and it instantly became talk of the town. The trailer introduced audience to the lead characters caught up in a tale of love, attraction, frustration and ethics. Infidelity seems to be the central piller of this tale as Deepika's character cheats on her husband with her cousin's fiance (Siddhant Chaturvedi).

During the trailer launch event, Deepika Padukone revealed that she had to take some references from her real life experience in order to play the character. "For me this character is a lot more raw, a lot more real than some of the other characters that I have played just emotionally, completely stripped, completely naked in that sense, completely vulnerable," she said.

Deepika further shared that she had to take cues from some really dark areas of her life to channel the energy required for her character. “To be able to do that onscreen, it had to come from a very very deep place. So, yes, it’s not to say I haven’t experienced that before. I think to this extent where I had to really dig deep and visit places that aren’t really the most pleasant from my own life as well as dealing with mental health issues. So, I think all of that put together it just came from a very very deep place," she said.

'Gehraiyaan' also stars Ananya Pandey and Dhairya Karwa and it's going to release on 11th of February on Amazon Prime Video.
