Actress Deepika Padukone proved herself to be a real life as she came forward to aid one of her co-stars and an acid attack survivor. The actress extended monetary help of 10 lakhs rupees towards Bala Prajapati, who is suffering from a life threatening ailment. Bala, an acid attack survivor from UP also starred alongside Deepika in the film 'Chhapaak'.

Due to a condition with her kidney, Bala has to undergo dialysis twice a week. Her condition worsened recently and she requires a kidney transplant to sustain life. Bala used to work for Sheroes Cafe in Agra which is run by the Chhanv Foundation. The foundation started a crowdfunding project to gather enough money for Bala's treatment and actress Deepika Padukone contributed by donating 10 lakhs rupees.

Director of the foundation, Alok Dixit said, "We appreciate Deepika's gesture. Her assistance has undoubtedly aided us in our efforts to raise donations for Bala. However, there is still work to be done. Bala is a dialysis patient who receives dialysis twice a week. To expedite the process, we are taking advice from the doctors of leading hospitals. We need to find a kidney donor because her mother and brother were judged to be unable to donate a kidney and she can’t live on dialysis for long."
