Director Gautham Menon had made his debut in digital platform last year with the series Queen, which had Anikha Surendran, Anjana Jayaprakash and Ramya Krishnan playing different phases of the central character which was designed similar to former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa.
Deepa Jayakumar, the niece of Jayalalitha had filed a case against Queen, Thalaivi directed by AL Vijay claiming that they were made without seeking permission and demanded a ban but the case was dismissed. She had made an appeal again stating that they are made in a way degrading Jayalalitha's character.
As the case came for hearing, the court had demanded an explanation from Gautham Menon, who has now responded in a return explanation where he has stated that Deepa isn't qualified to file a case, and that she herself had said that she was someone who could not even contact Jayalalithaa when she was alive. The explanation also further read that Queen was based on the novel The Queen written by Anitha Sivakumar and hence Deepa's appeal should be rejected.
