Shawn Levy's "Deadpool & Wolverine" debuted a fresh teaser and TV promo ten days before the movie was out.
Set to Toni Basil's "Hey Mickey," the teaser opens with a view of the enigmatic Lady Deadpool's red boots panning up to her blonde hair but hiding her face. With some fans speculating that Ryan Reynolds's wife, Blake Lively, would be playing the new character and others believing it could be Taylor Swift, who is often fancied as Dazzler, this teaser has generated buzz. The spot also introduces a googly-eyed dog joining Wade and Wolverine's alliance and shows brief views of Cowboy Deadpool.
Six years since "Deadpool 2" debuted in 2018, the threequel's screenplay is credited to Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, Reynolds, and Levy. With Levy hinting at many characters and appearances but keeping particular information under wraps, the teaser has images of Matthew Macfadyen, Emma Corrin, and other fresh faces.
Marvel chief Kevin Feige spoke in an interview with Deadline about the emotional subjects of the movie outside its R rating. "Yes, it's R-rated; with language and blood, but the film is incredibly emotional," Feige stated. "I consider this to be the most healthy R-rated movie anyone could view. It honors friendship, family, and discovered family. With all the focus on its graphic nature, the movie's heart will stand out more than the prior two Deadpool films.
On July 26, the third Deadpool installment is scheduled for release in theatres.
