On his legendary father Dr D Ramanaidu’s birth anniversary earlier this June, top producer Suresh Babu announced De De Pyaar De remake with his superstar brother Venkatesh in the lead.
The film told the story of 50-year-old single father (played by Ajay Devgn) who faces disapproval from his family and his ex-wife (Tabu) when he falls in love with a 26-year-old woman (Rakul Preet Singh). With Venkatesh looking to star in roles which go with his age, the Luv Ranjan’s presentation proved to be just what the doctor ordered for the veteran.
Although names like Sriwass and Dolly were bandied about to helm the remake, nothing came out officially for a long time. But it is now learnt that Suresh and Venky have put the project aside. Reason? Apparently, the disastrous performance of Manmadhudu 2 had a bearing on the brothers’ decision. The Nagarjuna-starrer storyline was similar to that of the Hindi film and since it met a bad fate upon release, the Daggubati brothers didn’t want to take any chance.
