DC Studios is the media company with the most popular comic book universe next to Marvel Studios. The DC universe is infamous for not having a proper live-action film franchise like its rival, the MCU. The studio often reboots the stories of its major characters - Batman, Superman and others.
The famous Hollywood star Henry Cavill has been playing Superman in the DCEU for the last decade. With a successful stint, he emerged as the most loved superman actor among the fans. Now, the latest news is that Henry will no longer play Superman in DC. He took to his social media page to officially break the information to fans.
Notably, Henry appeared as Superman in the post-credit scene of Dwayne Jackson starrer 'Black Adam' last month after a hiatus. But now it seems that the new head people of the studio have decided to let go of Henry Cavill's Superman. James Gunn (a renowned Hollywood filmmaker) and Peter Safran (a film producer) became the new CEOs of the DC recently.
Fans are disappointed with this decision. Meanwhile, James Gunn spilled beans on the studio's plans to make a young Superman film soon. He wrote on his Twitter page, "Peter & I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn’t be more over-the-moon about; we’ll be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the beginning of the new year."
Henry Cavill's Instagram post read, "I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it's sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn't the easiest, but that's life. The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.
For those who have been by my side through the years.....we can mourn for a bit, but then we must remember.... Superman is still around. Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he sets for us are still there! My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for never will. It's been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards." (sic)
