Kingdom has stormed the box office, giving Vijay Deverakonda his biggest-ever opening. Initially carrying modest expectations, the film turned the tide in its final days of promotions and hit theatres to an overwhelming response. Despite releasing on a weekday (Thursday) without a holiday boost, Kingdom grossed an impressive Rs 39 crore worldwide on day one.
In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the film earned approximately Rs 9.92 crore (excluding GST) on its opening day, while in the USA, it crossed the $1 million mark. Interestingly, Kerala posted Rs 50 lakh in collections, making it the highest-opening Telugu film in the state this year.
While Kingdom hasn’t received unanimously glowing reviews, it has been praised for its ambitious scale, stunning visuals, and strong performances by Vijay Deverakonda and Satya Dev. However, an inconsistent second half has been cited as a drawback. Still, the film maintained a strong run throughout day one, with shows starting as early as 7:30 AM in Hyderabad.
Trade analysts believe the collections will gain momentum over the weekend, with positive word-of-mouth continuing to draw audiences.
Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, Kingdom is produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. The film also stars Satya Dev in a key role, with Mollywood actor Venkitesh playing the antagonist. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music, further boosting the film’s appeal.
With such an impressive start, Kingdom has not only brought relief to Vijay Deverakonda but also revived weekday box office momentum in Tollywood.
