Dawood Ibrahim’s network in India and the UK is seemingly in for trouble, thanks to the Enforcement Directorate. The agency has reportedly identified about fifteen properties owned by late Memon Iqbal Mohammed alias Iqbal Mirch in these two countries. Mirchi was a collaborator of Dawood.
Two associates of Mirchi have been arrested by the ED in connection with a money-laundering scandal under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. As per the early investigation, the late gangster Mirchi had bought three properties in Mumbai's Worli many years ago. They are Sea View, Marium Lodge and Rabia Mansion, which were sold to a firm in 2010 for a whopping Rs 225 Cr. Mirchi bought a hotel in Dubai with this money collected through his benamis. Politicians in Maharashtra are also part of this network, a report says.
Mirchi reportedly moved out of Mumbai and emigrated to Dubai after the 1993 blasts. He later moved to London. He died in 2013.
