David Beckham himself has revealed, for the first time, his notorious dressing room incident with Sir Alex Ferguson in a new Netflix documentary titled 'BECKHAM'. The show will celebrate the highlights of his career.
According to one scene from the trailer, Beckham reflects on 2003, when he was hit accidentally by a stray boot thrown in his direction by Ferguson. Imitating that moment, something caught him and he said, And then I've gone like that. He jumps up, saying, And then I've gone like that! When asked if he went for it with Ferguson, Beckham nods and says, Yeah.
While it was generally expected that Ferguson would be directing his fiery team talks at the players, as observed that day, he indeed tried to hit a pile of clothes on the changing room floor.
Recalling the incident in 2017, Beckham admitted, I'd made a couple of mistakes during the game, and he came into the changing room, and we had a couple of words. He started to walk over to me, and he kicked a pile of clothes on the floor. Out came this boot, and it hit me, and then I realized how accurate he actually was.
The film also addresses another controversial spell in Beckham's story: the sending-off for kicking Diego Simeone he received at the 1998 World Cup. He says after it, I wasn't eating. I wasn't sleeping. It took a toll on me that I never even knew myself.
'BECKHAM' is a four-part series available from October 4th on Netflix, allowing fans to see behind the scenes and into the life of one of football's greatest ever stars.
