Darvinte Parinamam Review
Narrating change and evolution are perhaps the most engaging of all narratives. In 'Darvinte Parinamam' the long winded and twisted plot however, mar the emerging of a new man. There was huge expectations riding on 'Darvinte Parinamam'. Directed by Jojo Anthony, it is Prithviraj's back to back hits that had upped expectations.
Prithviraj plays a tv operator named Anil Anto who arrives at Kochi from Kottarakkara, unable to face the barbs of his mother. With him is his pregnant wife and together they are all set to chart out a new life. However, the title character of Darvin is being played by Chemban Vinod. It is with his introduction as Gorilla Darvin that the movie begins.
The nature of Darvin and what he does is narrated. His gang and activities are introduced. How Anil's path crosses Darvin's when an incident involving his wife and Darvin's gang happens and the subsequent revenge forms the plot in a nutshell. There is a freshness in the way the sequences are presented, with all the elements including romance, humour, drama portrayed.
While most of the comic numbers were met with applause, some of them fell flat and faded out without a murmur. Even in the first half, an emotional Anil leaves the audience teary eyed. The high emotional drama is come out well.
All the cast stand out with spectacular performances. It is notable how much Chemban Vinod has captured attention. Some scrip dialogues and commendable acting chops does him good. It is more of his movie than Prithviraj's. Prithviraj appears cool and collected and his dynamic acting is evident in the emotional scenes. Another scene that stands out os the hospital scene replete with humour.
Abhinandhan Ramanujan's frames are beautiful and he has captured various kinds of sequences including the background of Kochi and notably the fight sequences effectively. Jijo Anthony, the movie's director has done admirably and his mode of narration is commendable. He sure is talented and could make a name for himself in the days to come.
While 'Darvinte Parinamam' is a very watchable movie, lack of a tight plotting is what does it in. Its long winded and stretched go at revenge drains you out in the end. All said, the movie is entertaining and is a decent watch.
