Film actor Darshan Kumaar has worked in a number of good projects and played a variety of characters. All his characters carry very distinct personality and motives. He was recently seen as an antagonist in Farhan Akhtar's sports drama 'Toofan'. He portrays a boxer who is consumed by vengeance and would any way to have his revenge. Coincidentally, Darshan made his debut with the boxing film, 'Mary Kom'.
To look convincing in his role, Darshan was trained by Hollywood trainer Darrell Foster who also worked with Will Smith. Sharing his experience, Darshan said, "Boxing is a demanding sport. It was challenging to get into the character. I remember that in our first meeting, Darrell said that he would teach me how to take a punch and not fake a punch. He said he won’t train me for a film, but he’d train me like a real pro boxer."
He also revealed how cast had to train with real boxers. Kumaar said, "They were all state and national level champions. They don’t know how to act so they were hitting us like punching bags. We would train from 7 am in the morning till 3 pm every day. After finishing that training I would hit the gym and practice on my own for another couple of hours. I was always bruised and battered. I have literally given my blood and sweat for the film. Toofan gave me sleepless nights."
