Action star Darshan's appeal has made "Mandya" the top film of the fortnight.

1. "Mandya": Director Om Prakash Rao's film, with Darshan and Rakshitha in the lead, had a great opening with the first week's collections amounting to about Rs.7 million in the Bangalore-Kolar-Tumkur area.

2. "Rama Shama Bhama": The film's success is guaranteed. Multilingual actor Kamal Haasan returns to Kannada cinema after a gap of 18 years. This remake of Tamil hit "Sati Leelavathi" is a hit all over Karnataka.

3. "Anna Thangi": This will soon be completing 100 days in many centres. Its collections have surpassed those of last year's biggest hit "Jogi" in many areas. Shivaraj Kumar is now reaping the benefits of his decision to stick to original films.

4. "Amruthadhare": The film will complete 25 weeks in a few days. Even after 100 days in many centres, the film's collections have not dipped. It has also done well abroad. Ramya, the film's leading lady, has now become the highest-paid actress.

5. Jogi: The film has entered its 22nd week. It has made history by collecting over Rs. 60 million in the Bangalore-Tumkur-Kolar distribution area.
