The cricket fraternity is in a state of shock and disappointment with the ball tampering incident which has tarnished the image of players Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft. In what appears to be a much more shocking news is that Australian cricket team’s coach Darren Lehmann has decided to step down after the scandal.
Darren stated that he will no longer be the coach of Australia’s cricket team at the end of the fourth test match between Australia and South Africa. “The feeling is that Australian cricket needs to move forward and this is the right thing to do,” he said.
In addition to this, Lehmann also stated that he and his family received backlash from fans over the ball tampering incident and that he would be retiring from his position as a team coach voluntarily. No doubt this comes off as a great loss for the Australian cricket team.
