'Mithai', a dark and surreal comedy, was on Sunday morning launched on the auspicious occasion of Sankranthi. To be directed by debutante Prashant Kumar, the film belongs to a rare genre. Some of the most interesting talents are on board.
The launch event was graced by Vijay Devarakonda, director Sandeep Reddy of 'Arjun Reddy' and director Kranthi Madhav.
Vijay Devarakonda said, "It's like friends of 'my batch' are doing this film. So, it's like my team! I have known Prashant Kumar since the days of 'Pelli Choopulu'. He was there with us during the pre-production of 'Arjun Reddy' as well. He would be there at the office every day, giving us feedback whenever we wanted. Priyadarshi has been a close friend since 'PC'. Rahul Ramakrishna has become closer to me over the making of 'AR'. Vivek Sagar didn't compose the music for 3-4 of my movies. He is doing it for this film. I don't know if I have to feel happy or jealous. I am curious about this combination. It will be interesting to watch this dark comedy. I am curious to see the story. May the shoot go super smooth."
Sandeep Reddy said, "Prashant is writing, producing and directing 'Mithai'. He has been my close friend. I am not saying it because he is my friend, but he is coming up with a good story. It's a good attempt that my friend is making. It's rare to find a dark comedy in Telugu. I am glad somebody is doing it. I wish Rahul Ramakrsihna, Kamal Kamaraju, Priyadarshi, Shweta Varma, Gayatri Gupta, Bhushan garu, Kalyan Subrahmanyam and the entire cast and crew all the best."
Rahul Ramakrishna said, "The story is really good. Thanks for the encouragement, Sandeep anna, Kranthi anna and Vijay Devarakonda. These are my good friends. I am looking forward to this good film called 'Mithai'."
Vivek Sagar said, "I think it's going to be a kickass film. I wish everyone good luck."
Priyadarshi said, "My best wishes to the team. Thanks everyone for gracing this occasion."
Shwetha Varma said, "We are launching the film on an auspicious occasion like Sankranthi. I thank Prashant sir for the opportunity."
Gayatri Gupta said, "Cinema is a madness. And when mad people make a film, that's next level. There is a hint of madness in all of us doing this film. This is going to be a kick-ass start for us."
Kranthi Madhav said, "The director's work will speak for itself. Prashant is from Bihar. We have been best friends since college days. We went to the same film school and stayed together in the same room. I have been experimenting with my life, so also Sanddep Reddy and Prashant. The film industry is like a big giant wheel. Every Friday, it stops so someone can get onto it. I wish that Prashant will be on the top of it whenever he releases his film."
Choreographer Anee said, "We have started out with a new vision. I wish that this film will come out hundreds of times better than what it's being visualized."
Bushan Kalyan, who played the college dean in 'Arjun Reddy', said, "I was proud to be a part of 'AR'. New winds are blowing in Telugu cinema. I thank Prashant for the opportunity. I hope i can raise up to your expectations."
Director Prashant Kumar said that he will talk about his movie at a future date.
