Dam 999 is a film that is based on the controversy between the State of Tamilnadu and Kerala over the Mullai Periyar dam. The state fears that the release of such a film may cause political unrest in Tamilnadu.

The film waas supposed to be released on the 25th of November 2011 but was being postponed due to unavoidable reasons. The Tamil Nadu government gave permission for the screening a day ago, but changed their minds again today. Sohan Roy, the director and producer of Dam 999 filed a complaint saying that the film was released everywhere but in Tamilnadu, so the court should allow for release here too. The court has not taken that into heed as they say that an entire state's well being is more important to them than an individual's wish.
