Dalit activist lashes out at Puri Jagannadh for controversial views

Recently, in a podcast, Puri Jagannadh opined that the right to vote should be suspended for the poor (white-card holders) and that only educated people should be given the right to vote. The views have not gone down well with some.

Reportedly, a few Dalit outfits have voiced their views against the 'iSmart Shankar' director's anti-reservation rant as well. An activist of Mahasena, putting out a video statement on social media, said, You want caste-based quota to go. Can you say that caste itself should be abolished? You won't say it because you want caste-based privilege for yourself.

The activist, who has identified himself as Rajesh, added, It's because of the revenue you made from the tickets bought by white-card holders that you are prosperous today. You want the right to vote to be snatched away from illiterate people. Would you dare say that illiterate politicians should be stripped of their positions? If you say such a thing, politicians will get you booted out from the film industry. Since you don't have the guts to raise your voice against politicians, you are targetting the poor.

It will be interesting to say if Puri will add a rejoinder in an upcoming podcast.
