Dalai Lama's Statement About Female Successors is Shocking! Video Inside

An interview released by BBC with the Dalai Lama has registered a shock among many who were not expecting his statement about female successors. In the interview, reporter Rajini Vaidyanathan asked about a comment he had made previously in 2015. He had said that a female who succeeds him would have to be attractive. When this was revisited, the Dalai Lama affirmed the same saying that people would not like to look at a dead face and that women in public should wear makeup.
The Dalai Lama can be heard saying: “Real beauty is inner beauty, that’s true. But we’re human beings, I think the appearance is also important.” The issue, however, seems to be also that the comment is specific to one gender. Twitter users have been expressing their disappointment over the remark. Many have also been saying they will have to cancel the Dalai Lama for his statement.
This was perhaps the most surprising moment in the interview. I asked the Dalai Lama if he stood by his earlier comment that if his successor was female, she should be attractive.
