In an interview ahead of his Dasara release, the Akkineni actor has said that he didn't open up about the love life because he is a private person. "I'm a very private person. I have made it a point not to discuss my personal life. Even on social media, I discuss only movies," Chay said.

He told about Samantha to his dad first. "Not mom, but it was dad to whom I talked about my love for Samantha. He felt very happy. His expression was like, 'I knew that. You are telling what I already know'. Our engagement and marriage will be held next year. Akhil's marriage will be held before mine. I'm pleasantly surprised over his guts to marry at a young age," Chay said.
